GEORGE W. MOORE

George W. Moore has practiced law in Asheville, North Carolina, since 1971. A graduate of Wake Forest University and the University of North Carolina School of Law, he has spent more than five decades representing individuals throughout Western North Carolina with thoughtful, client-focused legal counsel and experienced courtroom advocacy.  A 50-year lawyer, George has extensive civil trial experience.  He formed The Moore Law Office with his daughter, Jennifer Moore, in 2007.

George concentrates his practice in employment discrimination, workers' compensation, Social Security disability, serious personal injury, and mediation. Throughout his career, he has emphasized careful preparation, thorough legal research, and open communication with clients. His work has contributed to important developments in North Carolina employment law, including the frequently cited case Deerman v. Beverly California Corp., involving wrongful termination and protections under the North Carolina Nursing Practice Act.

In addition to representing clients, George is a certified mediator and has served on the Board of Directors of The Mediation Center in Asheville. He believes that while some disputes require litigation, others can best be resolved through practical negotiation and mediation.

Before entering private practice, George served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army, including service in Vietnam. His military service was recognized with the Army Commendation Medal and campaign ribbons.

Outside the office, George enjoys spending time with his family and is an avid runner, hiker, and mountain biker. He has also been active in the Asheville community, including serving as a founding member of the Asheville City Schools Foundation.
